Vietnam-Oman Fund Leads $255M Investment into Hospitality Giant Vinpearl

Vietnam-Oman Investment (VOI), backed by the Oman Investment Authority (OIA), has anchored a US$255 million investment into Vietnamese hospitality operator Vinpearl. The deal, which includes participation from international investors like SeaTown Holdings, an affiliate of Singapore's Temasek, marks VOI's first entry into the tourism and hospitality sector after 18 years of operating in Vietnam. The financing was structured through convertible dividend preference shares (CDPS), a model the investors said is designed to align the interests of the company with its strategic shareholders.
VOI stated the transaction aligns with its strategy to expand into sectors poised to gain from rising domestic consumption and a sustained tourism recovery. "Vietnam remains one of the region's most dynamic economies with strong long-term growth potential," a VOI representative commented. "The company is well positioned to benefit from rising domestic demand, increasing international visitor arrivals, and the continued growth of Vietnam's tourism industry."
Established in 2008 as a joint venture between the OIA and Vietnam's State Capital Investment Corporation (SCIC), VOI functions as an investment platform linking capital from Oman and the Gulf region to Vietnam. Over the past 18 years, the fund has built a diverse portfolio with investments in education, healthcare, renewable energy, and critical infrastructure. Its holdings include Vinmec hospitals, the Song Duong and Song Hau water plants, Saigon Water Company, the Trung Luong-My Thuan Expressway, and a rooftop solar platform serving industrial parks.
Vinpearl will use the capital injection to support business expansion, enhance operations, and upgrade its service offerings as it develops its tourism and leisure portfolio. The company noted that the participation of prominent international investors like VOI and SeaTown Holdings underscores growing interest from global financial institutions in Vietnam's tourism potential. Founded in 2003, Vinpearl operates a vast network of 60 hospitality, entertainment, and leisure facilities across 20 provinces and cities. Its assets include over 17,500 hotel and resort rooms, 16 theme parks, six golf courses, three convention venues, two wildlife conservation parks, a horse academy, and several large-scale entertainment productions in destinations such as Nha Trang and Phu Quoc.
