Techcombank Wins Pan-Asia AI Award; Techcom Life Sweeps Insurance Tech Prizes

HANOI – Vietnam Technological and Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Techcombank) and its insurance arm, Techcom Life, have received three prestigious awards from The Asian Banker 2026, recognizing their advancements in artificial intelligence, digital platforms, and life insurance.
Techcombank was honored with the Best AI Engineering Initiative in Asia-Pacific at the AI Excellence Awards 2026. The award acknowledges the bank's enterprise-wide Agentic Platform, which deploys specialized AI agents across the software development lifecycle, including business analysis, software engineering, quality assurance, and project management. The Asian Banker noted the platform has enhanced employee productivity, improved collaboration, and accelerated software development.
Tran Hoang Quan, Senior Director of Technology at Techcombank, said the award validates the bank's long-term investment in centralized AI governance and agentic AI platforms. "Through rigorous data discipline and strong internal capabilities, we have reduced application development time by 15% by leveraging AI," Quan stated. "This milestone not only unlocks greater creativity across our technology teams and optimizes the software development lifecycle but also provides a foundation for Techcombank to continue pioneering secure digital solutions while showcasing Vietnam's technological capabilities on the international stage."
Meanwhile, Techcom Life, established in 2025 as an "AI-first" insurer, won two accolades at The Asian Banker Vietnam Awards 2026. Its flagship universal life product, Techcom Life Max Vung Vang, was named Best Life Insurance Product in Vietnam. The product was recognized for its combination of long-term protection, wealth accumulation, and financial flexibility tailored for affluent customers.
The insurer’s AI-enabled sales platform, iProtek, was awarded Best Life Insurance Technology in Vietnam. The platform integrates AI into insurance advisory and policy servicing, providing support for advisers throughout the entire customer journey, from initial needs assessment to after-sales service.
Mukesh Pilania, Chief Executive Officer of Techcom Life, noted the recognition came less than a year after the company commenced operations. "We have built a customer-centric organization, pioneered the application of AI and established new benchmarks for the market," Pilania said. "Becoming the first Vietnamese life insurer to receive two Asian Banker awards in the same year reflects our ambition to reshape the insurance industry and empower customers through innovation."
Winners are selected by The Asian Banker following a rigorous evaluation process conducted by its editorial and research team, covering financial institutions across the Asia-Pacific region.
