Vietnam’s southern province of Tây Ninh advanced its European investment promotion with a successful conference in Amsterdam on June 23, culminating in several key agreements.

A highlight of the event was the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Dutch firm Harvest Waste B.V. and the Tây Ninh Department of Industry and Trade. The agreement paves the way for a feasibility study on a waste-to-energy plant using European technology, with an expected investment exceeding US$125 million.

In addition to the energy project, the conference saw the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Dutch Business Association Vietnam and the Tây Ninh Department of Finance. This pact aims to facilitate the exploration of investment opportunities in the province for Dutch businesses.

A third agreement was signed between De Heus Group and Hùng Nhơn Group to broaden their cooperation in developing high-tech agricultural value chains.

Addressing the attendees, Nguyễn Văn Quyết, Secretary of the Tây Ninh Party Committee, highlighted the increasingly substantive and effective relationship between Việt Nam and the Netherlands. He expressed his hope that Tây Ninh will serve as an important link in the comprehensive partnership between the two nations, leveraging their complementary strengths in logistics, high-tech agriculture, the circular economy, clean energy, and sustainable development.

Vietnamese Ambassador to the Netherlands Ngô Hướng Nam commended Tây Ninh’s strategic vision and development potential. He affirmed that the embassy would continue to act as a reliable bridge to help the province attract Dutch and other European investors.

During a discussion session, Gabor Fluit, Chairman of the Dutch Business Association Vietnam, along with other Dutch enterprise representatives, put forward several cooperation initiatives. These focused on clean energy, green growth, the circular economy, and high-tech agriculture.

Maarten Siebe Van Wijk, Director of The Fruit Republic, noted that Tây Ninh's recent merger with Long An Province has expanded its land resources, including extensive sugarcane growing areas and a large canal network. He stated that these advantages create favorable conditions for a shift to high-tech fruit cultivation, which could raise farmers’ incomes and boost agricultural productivity.

In response, Huỳnh Văn Sơn, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, reaffirmed Tây Ninh’s commitment to enhancing the local investment environment. He pledged to accelerate administrative reforms and collaborate closely with investors throughout the survey and project implementation phases.

The conference is anticipated to create new, practical, and sustainable cooperation opportunities between Tây Ninh and its European partners, building on the foundation of the Việt Nam–Netherlands Comprehensive Partnership.
