Nam A Bank has secured a $50 million trade finance package from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) after joining its Trade and Supply Chain Finance Programme (TSCFP), a move aimed at strengthening support for Vietnamese enterprises in global markets. The lender formalized the partnership by signing an Issuing Bank Agreement with the multilateral development bank on June 25, marking a milestone in its strategy to expand internationally and advance its digital transformation.

The ADB, a multilateral institution established in 1996, granted the facility to Nam A Bank, acknowledging the lender's financial capacity, transparency, and reputation. Under the agreement, the ADB will issue guarantees to confirming banks to support Nam A Bank's payment obligations for eligible transactions, mitigating risk for international partners.

With this mechanism, Nam A Bank can enhance its portfolio of products, including import and export letters of credit, bank guarantees, Standby Letters of Credit, and short-term commercial loan financing. The partnership is also expected to facilitate better acceptance from international banks, optimise processing times, and address delays faced by Vietnamese businesses, especially small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), in global value chains.

“The strategic partnership with Nam A Bank underscores the prestige and financial capabilities of Nam A Bank in the market,” said Vo Hoang Hai, deputy CEO of Nam A Bank. “The participation in the prestigious TSCFP elevates the brand's position and creates a solid foundation for the bank to increase its internal strength, optimise financial structuring solutions, and enhance its market service capabilities.”

Hai detailed four key areas of focus: expanding the scale of trade finance with priority for SMEs; deepening cooperation with its global banking network; pioneering green trade finance to shape sustainable supply chains; and accelerating a comprehensive digital transformation in its trade finance operations to meet international standards for speed and accuracy.

The ADB deal is a key component of Nam A Bank’s long-term strategy for deeper penetration of the international financial market. The bank also plans to establish a member bank at Vietnam's International Finance Centre to bridge capital flows and has strengthened collaborations with institutions like J.P. Morgan, FMO, Proparco, and Sinopac to attract foreign currency.

These efforts have enabled Nam A Bank to secure significant long-term funding from global partners. Since the beginning of 2026, the bank has raised nearly $300 million in international capital from organisations including the International Finance Corporation, Symbiotics, BlueOrchard, GCPF, and responsAbility, diversifying its foreign capital portfolio.

Such collaborations provide access to advanced technologies, products, and best management practices. They also signify international recognition of Nam A Bank’s adherence to standards like International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Basel III, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) frameworks. Entering a new development phase, the bank is promoting strategic pillars including international payments, trade finance, and capital management to enhance its competitiveness and customer value.
