HANOI – Masan High-Tech Materials (MSR) has been named one of Vietnam's Top 10 Most Innovative and High-Performing Enterprises 2026 (VIE10) in the energy sector, an acknowledgment of its technological advancements and strong business results.

The award was presented on June 26 at a ceremony organized by the Finance & Investment Newspaper and Viet Research. The recognition underscores the company's innovation-focused growth strategy as a global supplier of advanced materials.

Innovation Drives Higher Resource Value

Innovation is central to MSR's long-term development. The company has focused investment on research and development, advanced processing, and operational optimization to increase the value derived from Vietnam’s strategic mineral resources.

In 2025, its Masan Tungsten Refinery achieved a tungsten recovery rate exceeding 96%, even with fluctuations in feedstock quality. Process enhancements, such as the Fluorite Cleaner 5 Expansion Project and the reprocessing of fine gravity tailings, improved the recovery of tungsten, fluorite, and other minerals while boosting energy and equipment efficiency.

MSR has also accelerated its downstream processing capabilities. During 2025, the company produced 99.99% ultra-high-purity ammonium paratungstate (APT), delivering 72 tonnes to premium market customers. It also expanded its output of advanced materials like ammonium metatungstate (AMT) and ultra-fine tungsten oxides.

The company stated these achievements are the result of sustained investment in research, digitalization, artificial intelligence, and advanced manufacturing, which reinforces Vietnam's position in the global strategic materials supply chain.

To foster a culture of innovation, MSR has implemented initiatives like the MSR Innovation Festival and a digital Idea Management Platform. In 2025, employees submitted 7,336 ideas via the platform, of which 1,341 were approved for implementation, ranging from operational tweaks to technology-based efficiency solutions.

Strong Growth Momentum

MSR reported revenue of VND7.44 trillion (US$282.8 million) for 2025, contributed over VND1.03 trillion to the state budget, and invested more than VND3.8 billion in community development.

The company has sustained its growth into 2026, posting nearly VND3 trillion in revenue and VND537 billion in net profit for the first quarter. It projects a second-quarter net profit of approximately VND690 billion, which would bring its first-half earnings to around VND1.23 trillion.

MSR anticipates that ore processing volumes will recover from the third quarter onward, following the approval of its revised mining license. This approval permits the extraction of an additional 28 million tonnes of ore.

Looking ahead, its subsidiary, Nui Phao Mining, has been selected to explore the Nui Phao Extension and Nui Chiem deposits. These sites are estimated to hold about 115 million tonnes of additional polymetallic tungsten resources, which are expected to support mining and processing operations for the next 20 to 30 years.

Over the past 16 years, MSR has established one of the industry's few fully integrated tungsten value chains. The company plans to further expand downstream processing and develop a tungsten recycling facility to advance its circular economy model.

According to MSR, these strategic investments align with rising global demand for responsible sourcing, supply chain transparency, and strong ESG performance. They also support Vietnam's national ambitions in strategic industries such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, electric vehicles, and clean energy.
